Traditional Asian cultures have long relied on plant-based foods like soy, vegetables, and grains as staples in their diet, so many of their dishes are already vegan. But if not, it’s also easy to make your favorite meal vegan with a couple of simple swaps.

The most obvious is subbing tofu, tempeh, seitan, or a plant-based meat substitute (like Gardein or Beyond Meat) for meat in a recipe. There are even products designed to replace chicken, beef, or other specific meats in recipes.

Because dairy is not a common ingredient in Asian dishes, the most insidious animal product to watch out for (and substitute in home cooking) is any kind of fish sauce or paste. Umeboshi paste has a complex, salty flavor that makes a perfect substitute for the intense taste of fish pastes.

Plant-based Asian dishes are also a great way to introduce omnivores to vegan dining. The familiar format, sauces, and other flavors can help balance out the experience of trying new items like tofu, tempeh, or seitan!

Delicious Asian inspired vegan mushroom tacos recipe that anyone would love. Even for the meat lovers, because certain mushrooms like portabella have a similar texture as meat. I made this Asian inspired vegan mushroom tacos recipe with a blend of mushroom: shiitake, brown beech, alba, and baby portobello mushrooms, but you can only use one kind or create your own mix. If you are cooking for a meat lover crowds, you can check out mushrooms like portabella, chicken of the woods, and shiitake. These mushrooms offer a meat-like texture, so they might not even know they are eating mushrooms. I marinated my blend of mushroom in Korean BBQ sauce so that it will be a flavorful dish. With a touch of paprika, it comes out a little smokey, sweet, and spicy. If you don't have Korean BBQ sauce on hand, you can marinate the mushrooms in teriyaki sauce or any BBQ sauce. If you don't have any marinating sauce in the house, you can even marinate it in spices.

This Asian inspired mushroom tacos dish is lean because mushrooms are low in calories and virtually have no fat! Vegetable Fried Rice Dish

Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:20


  • 1/4 cup light soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons rice wine or dry sherry
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 2 eggs — lightly beaten
  • 1 carrot — in 1/2″ cubes
  • 1 red bell pepper — in 1/2″ cubes
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 4 cups cold cooked rice


Combine the ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl. Mix to blend well and set aside.

Place a small skillet over medium heat. When it begins to smoke, add 2 tablespoons of peanut oil and the lightly beaten eggs. Stir until the eggs are firm but moist. Transfer the eggs from the skillet to a small bowl and break them into small curds. Set aside.

Bring 1 quart of water to a boil in a small saucepan. Add the carrot and boil 1 minute. Drain and rinse in cold water. Drain again and reserve.

Place a wok over medium-high heat. When it begins to smoke, add the remaining 1/4 cup of peanut oil and the garlic. Stir briefly. Add the carrots, celery, red pepper, and peas. Stir-fry 1 minute. Stir in the rice and stir-fry 1 minute. Pour in the sauce and cook until the rice is heated through, about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Serve hot
